A Letter from The President – 2/3/2021

Hi Cougar Fans,

It is a busy time in Cougar athletics, and we have a lot of great things going on right now! See below for some highlights of the last week:

Swimming:
We had our district meets last weekend, and had several swimmers qualify for regionals. The girls finished 4th overall in district, with 3 individual champions, 2 silver medals, and a bronze. Qualifying for regionals for the boys and girls were Allegra Butler, Keilah Eckhart, Mitchell Gannon, Ethan Leung, Wesley Miles, Hayden Miller, Mason Schmitt, Makynna Smith, Megan Smith, and Zion Thomas. Hayden Miller was named swimmer of the meet, and is looking to win another state championship.

We also have water polo season starting this week. If you’ve never been to a match, go check one out. They are fun to watch!

Golf:
Both the girls and boys are playing very well. We will keep you updated on twitter, but both teams are filled with very talented players, and have a great chance to do very well at districts and regionals this year. I expect a lot of tournament wins both as teams and individually.

Boys Basketball:
The boys are rolling on a 14 game winning streak, and are 11-0 in district. We have clinched a tie for the district championship, and can win the title outright with a win at home Friday night vs. Jersey Village. Let’s fill the gym to the covid capacity, and watch the Cougars win a district championship!

Girls Basketball:
The girls continue to roll over opponents in district play as we are now 24-0 and 12-0 in district. We have a showdown on Friday night at Jersey Village. If we win, we will win our 3rd district championship in 4 years. Jersey Village only has 1 loss on the season (to our Cougars) so they are very good.

Girls Soccer:
The ladies are off to a great start in district at 3-0, including a win over previously undefeated Cy-Fair. We play in a tough district so it is going to be a tight race all the way to the end of the season, but we are off to a great start.

Boys Soccer:
The boys have had a tough start to district play losing 3 very tight contests. We have shown flashes of being a very good team, and have the potential to turn things around. Like the girls, this is going to be a close race all year so there is still time for the boys to get back in the playoff hunt.

Softball:
Softball won their first scrimmage 10-0. They will start regular season soon. The ladies will be in the hunt for a district championship this year. They play an exciting brand of softball so make sure to get out and catch a few games.

Baseball:
Baseball scrimmages start soon. Follow us on twitter for updates.

Thank you for all of your support. Let’s finish the year strong!

Go Cougars!
