A Letter from the President – 9/7/22

Hello Cougar Fans!

I hope you are all having a great week. We had a lot of our student athletes up at school on Saturday helping to deliver 2,200 flags throughout our area. These flags look great in all of the many neighborhoods! If you would like to order one for your yard, you can sign up at the link below. The new flag year will start with Veteran’s Day. This is our largest fundraiser, and our coaches and athletes work hard to distribute these flags all over the area.

We also continue to add members. If you haven’t rejoined for this year, or if you know anyone interested in joining, the link is below:

Football:
Friday night was one of the better high school football games you will ever see! It was back and forth from the start with both offenses making big plays all over the field. The Cougars got the ball down 4 with 2:15 left in the game, and drove 70 yards for the game winning score as the clock ran out. The final was 56-54 Cougars. We look to continue the momentum at home this Friday night vs Cy Ranch at 7 PM. The game will be at Pridgeon

Water Polo:
Both the girls and boys won their district openers this week by huge margins over Cy Woods this week. Both teams are rolling into district play with the girls record at 16-3 and the boys at 16-4. We play Cy Fair tonight at the CFISD Natatorium.

Volleyball:
The Cougars finished non-district play with a 15-11 record while playing one of the toughest schedules in the state. It looks like it will be a 4 team race for the district championship with the Cougars, Stratford, Cy Fair, and Memorial. Over the last week, Grace Krohn reached 1,000 assists and Gabby Espiricueta reached 1,000 digs. These are amazing accomplishments for 2 great seniors.

On September 20 at Jersey Village, the Cougars and Falcons host Rally Night to honor and raise awareness for those families affected by the NICU. There is a book drive between 9/13-20 where we are collecting new children’s books, teen books, activity books, or coloring books that have crayons included. Follow us on twitter for details, but this will be a great event for a great cause!

Cross Country:
The boys and girls are halfway through their season, and are putting up great times. The boys team is lead by senior Jonathon Bloanos who was won multiple medals so far this season. Junior Chelsea Plata and freshman Xiomara Sanchez have both lead the girls this season.

Tennis:
Tennis started district play against 2 state ranked teams in Memorial and Stratford. While we didnt pull the upset, the Cougars played very well, and took some points. The Cougars are fighting for a top 4 finish and trip to the regionals.

Thank you for all of your support!

Josh Martin
CCABC President
